My dearest sisters and brothers,
As part of our humanistic activities, I am pleased to inform you of the signing of an addendum to a sponsorship agreement in order to carry out the renovation of the infrastructure and the construction of the first phase, in 2025, of the hospitality wing: 24 rooms out of 48, two elevators, a kitchen, a refectory, and a meeting hall for the spiritual retreats of the Cistercian Monastery of Santa Maria di Contrino in Latiano, near Brindisi.
In addition, it is planned to install photovoltaic panels on the entire roof of the monastery to produce electricity for the nearby village. The knights of our Order will have the opportunity to stay there during the festivities of Saint Bernard.
This establishment, open to all, is dedicated to those wishing to undertake a spiritual retreat and to participate in visits throughout the Apulia region of Italy. This first phase represents a significant investment.
With this sponsorship agreement, for a period of five years, we are planning a second phase to be carried out in 2026.
Some among us will have the duty to manage and to travel on site for the necessary verifications within the framework of proper monitoring of the projects.
